Shaklee Philosophy - 'in harmony with nature'

With Shaklee's philosophy of living "in harmony with nature" comes responsibility to sustain the earth for future generations, preserving it for the multitude of species who are depending on us to be responsible stewards of the earth.

At Shaklee, living "in harmony with nature" is more than a slogan. It began with Dr. Shaklee's belief that the health of the planet is intertwined with the health of every person who inhabits it. And today, more than ever, Dr. Shaklee's philosophy is part of everything we do. From Shaklee's corporate logo that symbolizes the harmony of sky and earth to our gently-on-the-earth products, environmentally sound packaging and the allocation of corporate resources to environmental causes, Shaklee continues the dream of living in harmony with nature.

Many people are seeking to lead environmentally sound lives. They are educating themselves about the threat of environmental pollution and those waste products that remain after people perform ordinary tasks, such as cleaning their homes or washing clothes and dishes. Many people are turning to Shaklee as a way to make a difference to the environment.

People see that using Shaklee household products is something that individuals can do to help the environment. And as membership in environmental groups swell, so do the number of Shaklee businesses. People are eager to be associated with a company that takes the environment seriously.

Global warming, toxic waste, contaminated ground water and holes in the ozone layer all cause the public to demand some serious changes. And businesses are scrambling to paint themselves "Green".

Since its inception 51 years ago, Shaklee has never had to change any of its practices to be environmentally friendly company. Companies are discontinuing the use of aerosol sprays. Shaklee has never had aerosol pumps on its products. Other companies are removing phosphates from their products. But there have never been any phosphates to remove from Shaklee cleaning products.

Consequently, Shaklee was named as one of only seven official corporate sponsors of Earth Day 1990 and Basic-H was named the official Earth Day cleaning product.

Shaklee's Environmental Wellness program focuses on three important issues:education - making people aware of the problems that exist in our environment today; personal responsibility - deciding that we can to something as individuals in our homes, our neighborhoods and in our communities to help live in harmony with Nature; and, finally, making earth-friendly choices in the products we use in everyday life.
